Archaeological dowsing at Gestingthorpe 13th March 2016

This morning some of our members had the chance to work alongside members of the Society of Archaeological Dowsers at Gestingthorpe. ┬áSome of us discovered that we had hidden talents while others weren’t so lucky! Many thanks to Ashley Cooper for hosting the event in the lovely spring sunshine.

THE HUNT IS ON FOR THE FIRST GOLDINGHAM HALL

Gestingthorpe History Group have working in the wooded area behind the ‘hovel’ for the last few weeks. Their aim is to find the site of the original Goldingham Hall which is shown in an 18th century map. Although no definite signs of a structure have been found 19th century pottery, oyster shells and one spur have turned up so far… Keep an eye on the blog and facebook for more posts.
