A follow up Aerial Photography course was attended today by 8 members of SVCA. Whilst some had been on the previous course, several of us were new to the subject. We were primed to download the required free software onto our laptops. The morning was spent looking at examples of aerial photography and considering the reasons for and uses of a mapping programme. It was agreed that it would be useful to survey any areas where we were intending to fieldwalk or excavate. We were given a demonstration of how to use the programme to overlay an aerial photo containing crop marks onto a map of the same area. Our tutor Roger Green was very patient with us and by the end of the afternoon all had achieved this, some more swiftly than others!
